The area is well known for its beautiful countryside and coastal walking routes, making The Kinmel Arms a perfect place to begin or finish a walk. Located in the village of St George near Abergele, we are surrounded by quiet country lanes, rolling farmland and easy access to the North Wales coast. Whether you are exploring the local countryside, enjoying a coastal walk near Llanddulas, or simply taking in the scenery around Abergele, many walkers stop at The Kinmel Arms to relax with good food, local drinks and a warm village welcome.
Just under 3 miles on tarmac.
Walk through the village and past the quarry crossing. Turn left up Fardre Hill. At the fork keep left and on through the little wooded area, look out for the Buzzards and the Red Kite.
At the Estate Gate House turn left and walk on with a high stone wall on your right. After Dinorben Farm entrance look out for views to the sea and if you look over the hedge to your left you may get views of Snowdonia.
Look out for Peregrine Falcon and Ravens and Fallow Deer in the woods. Steeply down Upper Primrose Hill (Coronary Hill if you can run up it!) and back into the village.
Just over 6 miles, mostly on tarmac.
Walk through the village, past the quarry crossing, and turn left up Fardre Hill. Keep to the higher fork and continue climbing. At the main road, turn right for 100 metres, then cross and take the left fork uphill.
Follow the road past houses and a farm, then look for a stile on your left. Climb over and head up towards the trig point as the view opens out.
At the top, take in sweeping views of Snowdonia, the Great Orme, the Irish Sea, the Clwydian Hills, and the Arans. Keep an ear out for choughs.
For the return, head east to a gate, turn left onto a gravel bridleway, then rejoin the road, turn right, and retrace your steps to the village.

About 5 miles on tarmac, gravel and grass.
Walk through the village, past the quarry crossing, and go straight on at the crossroads. After the old toll cottage, follow the road downhill. At the bend with a bench and post box, turn left up the lane.
Continue past houses as the road becomes a grassy track. Pass the old pump house, then take the gravel track on your left uphill. Keep left, follow it as it doubles back, then bear left onto a forest track.
Follow the path to a viewpoint on your left, then return and continue uphill. Take the next right, then right again up through fir trees to a kissing gate and into a field with the Tower.
From the Tower, head east to a stile, then down to a lane. Turn left and follow the road downhill, looping back to retrace your steps to the village.
About 3 miles to the beach on tarmac. Walk through the village, past the quarry crossing, and straight on at the crossroads. Head down St George’s Road, bearing right at the fork.
In Abergele, turn left at the High Street, then right at the lights. Pass the Castle pub and church, then enter Pentre Mawr Park. Follow the path to the lake and turn right onto Sea Road. Cross the A55 bridge to reach the coast. Explore as far as you like.
Return the same way back to the village.
