What’s walk if it doesn’t include a stop in a pub and a bite to eat?
We love our walks – we live in such a beautiful area and this walk truly shows that! It takes you to the Coastal Path.
Walk/Bike 4 – To the Beach, Wales, Coast Path
3 miles to the beach on tarmac and as far as you want to go after.
Walk through the village and past the quarry crossing, straight on at the crossroads. Enjoy the views to the sea as you drop down St George’s Road towards Abergele.
Bear right where the road forks (next to a seat and post box) and follow the road into the outskirts of town.
When you join the main High Street go left to a set of traffic lights. Turn right at the lights and follow the road, you will pass the Castle pub on your left.
Next, you will pass the imposing Catholic Church on your left, look out for the entrance to Pentre Mawr Park on your left just after the zebra crossing. Go into the park and walk around the tarmac road then path that goes around the park.
Eventually, you will come to a small lake with a viewing platform. Just past this is a gateway out of the park on your right, take this and turn right onto Sea Road. This will lead you you over a bridge with traffic lights that goes over the main A55 artery into North Wales.
Once over this you have arrived at the coast! To your right there are some small shops and cafes, to your left the Wales Coast Path carries on. Walk/bike as far as you want along here or just run about on the cobbly beach! To return go over the A55 bridge onto Sea Road and walk all the way up this to a main junction for the High Street.
Turn left and negotiate the roundabout going straight across into town. The George and Dragon is good for a pint! Go straight through 2 sets of traffic lights and you will see St Georges Road on your right.
Retrace your steps back to the village.
